is creativity an intelligence?

goodnightstars:

a question i was asked today. in return, i responded, “what else would it be?” a skill? what’s the definition of a skill? a type of work or activity which requires special training and knowledge. does creativity require special training? you don’t need to go to an art school to be able to strike a brush against an easel. and what about knowledge? must you know about the elaborate history of paint to be able to experiment with colors and textures? so then, what is intelligence? the ability to think, reason, and understand instead of doing things automatically or by instinct. creativity comes from the aspects and ideas formulated in our brain from our pure imagination. we think about it. we reason with it. we understand and we grow from experience. nobody wants to be told they are unintelligent because everybody wants to be good at something. howard gardner insists there are eight types of intelligence, including a musical intelligence. music as an intelligence. why not? if creativity isn’t considered an intelligence, then we lose the beauty of what is the ambiguity of our human culture.
